Our classes focus on giving each student individual attention and personalised feedback.
Since the classes are kept very small (maximum 4 students), each student receives practices selected by the tutor based on the tutor’s assessment of the student’s needs.

Paper 1: WRITING

Editing: students will learn to identify grammatical errors, including errors with tenses, word form, pronouns, subject-verb agreement, and articles.

Situational Writing: students will learn to address the TF (Task Fulfilment) by providing the necessary information and show understanding of purpose, audience and context. Students will cover various text forms such as formal/ informal letters, e-mails, article, speeches, proposals, and reports.

Continuous writing: students will receive structured reading packages and practices to equip them with both content knowledge and language skills like effective hooks, topical vocabulary, varied sentence structures. They will cover the various genres of writing such as descriptive, expository, argumentative, and personal recounts.
Paper 3: LISTENING

Listening tasks: Students will listen to a variety of listening tasks, in a variety of British, American, and Singaporean accents, and practise key listening skills such as inference, and picking out relevant points

Note-taking: Based on the listening passage, students will practice notetaking and filling in the blanks.
DSA & EAE applications to Junior Colleges and Polytechnics:

While she was at National Junior College, Joelle was on the DSA interviewing panel, and personally interviewed many students applying to the Integrated Programme.

Now, she coaches other students on preparing application portfolios, writing personal statements, and interview skills. Her students have received offers at schools like RI (JC), ACS (I), NYJC, NJC, amongst others.​
Paper 2: READING

Visual texts: students will learn to analyse how features of the text and image create effects on the readers and convey the message

Reading Comprehension (Narrative): students will practice the strategies for answering all the popular question-types such as identifying relevant phrases from the passage, explaining how phrases create effect, inferring authorial intention, inferring tone and character.

Reading Comprehension (Factual): Students will practice the strategies for answering all the popular question-types such as identifying relevant evidence and explaining how it supports the stand, and paraphrasing relevant points.

Summary Writing: Students will learn to identify relevant points and paraphrase them accurately and concisely.
Paper 4: ORAL

Planned response: students will be given reading packages and videos that will equip them with topical vocabulary on the popular past-year topics such as current affairs and contemporary social issues, the environment, healthcare, youth issues, culture, technology, and education.

Spoken interaction: students will practice coming up with responses, developing, and supporting their responses.
Writing & Speaking Competitions:

Joelle also tutors students various national and international writing and speaking competitions.

She always encourages her students to participate in these to build up their portfolios and aid in their DSA and scholarship applications.
